CAUTION

The maximum communication distance of the Bluetooth standard is about 10m (33 ft). In actual environments, due to obstacles or many nearby Wi-Fi^®/Bluetooth devices, the communication range will be even shorter. Please be aware of the actual communication range when you use the app.

Quick Start

Do not pair or connect to the sound module from the Settings screen.

Make sure the Bluetooth^® function on the sound module is turned on.
Make sure none of the window is popped up on the sound module.

Make sure the Bluetooth on your smartphone is turned on.
Open up the EFNOTE Tools app.
After scanning, your sound module should be shown on the app.
Allow the app to access the device's location to use Bluetooth wireless communication.
Tap the [Connect].
Confirm whether the app IDs matched on both displays, and tap the [OK] on the sound module to allow it to connect.
The menu screen is displayed on the app. Now ready to use.

SAVE 1 KIT	Downloads the currently selected drum kit from the sound module, and saves it as a file into your smartphone. On the sound module, select a drum kit you want to save. Then enter a file name and tap the [Save 1 Kit]. The saved file is compatible with a file saved to a USB flash drive from the sound module.
UPLOAD 1 KIT	Uploads a selected drum kit file to the sound module. Select a drum kit file you want to upload. Then tap the [Upload 1 Kit]. After finishing the transfer of the drum kit file, the name entry screen is displayed on the sound module. Name it and tap the [OK] to store it. Tapping the [Cancel] will discard the drum kit received. The stored drum kit will be loaded immediately. After finishing the transfer of the drum kit file, the drum kit is automatically stored in the sound module. If the same name drum kit exists, it will be stored with a suffix number added. [Overwrite] When the Overwrite is checked, the same name drum kit will be replaced with the uploaded drum kit if exists on the sound module. In the overwrite mode, if a currently selected drum kit is overwritten, the drum kit will be re-loaded immediately. To import a drum kit file from the downloads folder of your smartphone, tap the [Import kit file...], and select a file. To share a drum kit file, select a file, and tap . Make sure none of the window is popped up on the sound module.
SAVE TRIGGER	Downloads the current trigger settings from the sound module, and saves them as a file into your smartphone. Enter file name and tap the [Save Trigger]. The saved file is compatible with a file saved to a USB flash drive from the sound module.
UPLOAD TRIGGER	Uploads a selected trigger settings file to the sound module. This overwrites the current trigger settings on the sound module. Select a trigger settings file you want to upload. Then tap the [Upload 1 Trigger]. To import a trigger settings file from the downloads folder of your smartphone, tap the [Import trigger settings file...], and select a file. To share a trigger settings file, select a file, and tap . Make sure none of the window is popped up on the sound module.
SAVE BUS SETS	Gets the current bus settings from the sound module, and saves them as a file into your smartphone. Enter file name and tap the [Save Bus Settings]. The saved file is compatible with a file saved to a USB flash drive from the sound module.
UPLOAD BUS SETS	Uploads a selected bus settings file to the sound module. This overwrites the current bus settings on the sound module. Select a bus settings file you want to upload. Then tap the [Upload Bus Settings]. To import a bus settings file from the downloads folder of your smartphone, tap the [Import bus settings file...], and select a file. To share a bus settings file, select a file, and tap . Make sure none of the window is popped up on the sound module.
PREVIEW PADS	Plays pad sounds remotely for preview purpose. You can adjust the dynamics of the sound by the slider, and select the zone for each pad by the switch. Tap to update the drum kit name.
PAD LEVELS	Remotely adjusts each of the pad level of the currently selected drum kit. Values displayed in blue are confirmed levels, and displayed in red are levels will be sent. Tap to reload the current settings from the sound module and update the display.
SWAP PADS	Swaps sounds between 2 tom pads, or between 2 cymbal pads on the currently selected drum kit. This overwrites the currently selected drum kit with the swapped configuration. Select two pads you want to swap. Tap the [Swap] to execute. Make sure none of the window is popped up on the sound module.
BUS ASSIGN	Remotely setups the bus assignment. Select a source to change. Configure the target bus in the lower area. To send it as a stereo pair, check the Paired. Tap the [Send to Apply]. You can send multiple changes at once. Change Bus Labels Tap the [Bus Labels...]. Change labels, and tap the [SEND]. Values displayed in red are settings will be sent. Tap to reload the current settings from the sound module and update the display.
BUS EQ/COMP	Remotely controls the bus EQ/Comp settings. Select a bus in the lower area. Modify the EQ/Comp settings. Tap the [SEND]. You can send multiple changes at once. Values displayed in red are settings will be sent. Tap to reload the current settings from the sound module and update the display.
BUS MIXER	Remotely controls the bus mixer and bus EQ/Comp settings. Select a bus in the lower area. Modify the Mixer settings. Tap the [SEND]. You can send multiple changes at once. Modify the EQ/Comp Tap the [HPF], [EQ], or [COMP]. Modify the settings and tap the [SEND]. Values displayed in red are settings will be sent. Tap to reload the current settings from the sound module and update the display.
BUS OUT SETUP	Remotely setups the XLR output attenuator, XLR output settings, and the bus gains. Modify the settings and tap the [Send to Apply]. Values displayed in red are settings will be sent. Tap to reload the current settings from the sound module and update the display.
DRUM KIT SELECTOR	Remotely switches currently selected drum kit. Select a drum kit in the drum kit list. Tap the [Send to select]. The drum kit will be selected. Tap on top to reload the latest drum kit list from the sound module. Tap on the current drum kit section to refresh the current drum kit name.
KIT LIBRARY	Opens the official kit library web page, to get the variety of drum kits.
SUPPORT	Opens the official product support web page, to refer to the manuals, faqs, or any latest information for the product.

FAQs

My app cannot find my sound module when scanning.	Tap on bottom right corner to rescan. On the sound module, is bluetooth turned on? Is your smartphone placed closer enough to the sound module (try within 1ft / 30cm)? No other Bluetooth MIDI device is connected to the sound module? Do not pair or connect to the sound module from the Android's Settings. If you already did this, unpair (forget) the sound module on the Android's Settings, and then open up the app. Quit the app, restart the sound module, and then open up the app again. Make sure your smartphone supports Bluetooth 4.2 or newer. The app might not be compatible with the bluetooth function on your smartphone.
My app cannot connect to the sound module.	Make sure none of the window is popped up on the display of the sound module. Make sure the firmware version of the sound module is latest. After tapping the [Connect], check the display of the sound module to allow the connection. If you have done pairing with the sound module from the Android's Settings, unpair (forget) the sound module on the Android's Settings first, and then try to connect on the app. Quit the app, restart the sound module, and then open up the app again. In case nothing is displayed on the display of the sound module even if you tapped the [Connect] on the app, the app might not be compatible with the bluetooth function on your smartphone.
How can I apply the kit file downloaded from the kit library?	Make sure where the kit file was downloaded to. Usually it is downloaded to the "Downloads" folder on your smartphone. You may also be able to find it at the "Recents" section. Go to the "UPLOAD 1 KIT", and tap the [Import kit file...] at the bottom right. Find and select the kit file downloaded. Tap the [Upload 1 Kit] to upload it to the sound module.
How can I replace an existing drum kit on my sound module with a kit file?	Go to "UPLOAD 1 KIT" screen. Select a file you want to upload. Check the [Overwrite]. Tap the [Overwrite 1 Kit].
Can I upload an other model's kit file to my sound module?	Yes, EFNOTE 3/5/7 series can be uploaded other models' kit file, but it might contain sounds that your sound module does not have. In that case the kit file will be partially applied, and the missing sound (tone) will be replaced with "No Sound", even if the inst name is displayed correctly. Go to "UPLOAD 1 KIT" screen. Turn the [Show other models] switch on. Now you can see the other models' kit files. Select a file, and tap the [Upload 1 Kit].
Can I share my kit file with someone?.	Yes, you can share or post your kit file downloaded from your sound module to anywhere/anybody you want at your own risk. You cannot share/post the kit file downloaded from the kit library. Please share the URL of the kit library web page.
Where the saved files are located?	iOS: On My iPhone > EFNOTE Tools > efd Android: Internal storage > Android > data > com.efnote.tools > files > efd Recent Android OS cannot allow you to find the files located above with the standard Files app. Use button on the UPLOAD screen to share the file.
What if I uninstall the App?	All of saved files will be deleted. If you want to keep them, copy them to anywhere on your smartphone or cloud drive. When you install the app later again, you can import them.
On the preview pads screen, the displayed kit name is not updated.	Tap to update it.
On the pad levels screen, the displayed kit name and levels are not updated.	Tap to update them.
How can I delete a saved kit file?	Go to the "Save 1 Kit" or "Upload 1 Kit" screen. On the file list, swipe the file you want to delete left or right. The confirmation is popped up. Tap the [Delete] to delete it.
How can I delete a saved trigger settings file?	Go to the "SAVE TRIGGER" or "UPLOAD TRIGGER" screen. On the file list, swipe the file you want to delete left or right. The confirmation is popped up. Tap the [Delete] to delete it.
How can I rename a saved file?	You can use the standard "Files" app to rename the saved file. Do not change any file extension, otherwise the app will not able to recognize it. Recent Android OS cannot allow you to find the files with the standard Files app.
I got the "sound module not ready" error.	If any of window is being popped up on the sound module, close it. Go back to the home screen on the sound module, to be sure.
I got the "sound module not respond" error.	If any of window is being popped up on the sound module, close it. Make sure the firmware version of the sound module is latest. Restart the sound module, and try it again. If you got this error when connection, make sure the firmware version of the sound module is latest.
I get the "data communication error" frequentry.	Get your smartphone as closer as possible to the sound module. Keep away from other WiFi devices or a microwave. Bluetooth audio of the sound module might have a unwanted effect for the communication of the app, and disconnecting it may be able to improve the app's communication quality. In places where many people gather, there are many Bluetooth/WiFi devices nearby, so communication may not work properly or may be interrupted.
I get a connection lost very often.	Get your smartphone as closer as possible to the sound module. Disconnect the Bluetooth audio of the sound module. Keep away from other WiFi devices or a microwave. Quit the app, restart the sound module, and then open up the app again. In places where many people gather, there are many Bluetooth/WiFi devices nearby, so communication may not work properly or may be interrupted. The app might not be compatible with the bluetooth function on your smartphone.
